2nd Draft - DONE
Hello dear readers!
It’s been a minute since I’ve taken the time to sit down and compose some blog posts. Its been a heck of a summer so far. Traveled to Tennessee to meet with Dustin and Phil, and ended up getting the dreaded rona (2nd time around, woo), and getting stuck there an extra week, as well as a few other odds and ends I won’t go into, but suffice it to say the last month or tow have been very chaotic.

BUT! The good news is that I’ve been really pushing to get my second draft done, and lo-and-behold, IT’S FINALLY DONE! I finished up on July 31st. Which feels rather fortuitous to me, because I finished my 1st draft on August 1st last year.
So what happens next!?
Well, a lot of this is still really new to me, but from what Dustin and Phil have told me, and what I’ve researched the next steps are as follows, in more or less this order:
Gait some feedback from beta readers! - I’m already working on this and getting feedback as we speak! Thank you beta readers! Your insight is extremely valuable to me! <3
Enter what is essentially the editing process. Use feedback from beta readers to improve the story, and then once the core plot structure and pacing are solid, I can continue with more clean up/editing in terms of prose, grammar, etc.
Get an ISBN number!
Cover Artist! I’ve actually already secured a cover artist. He’s got a great portfolio and I’m really excited to work with him. Check him out, Felix Ortiz.
Layout. I’m planning on doing this myself. I’ve done a bit of research, and given my graphic design background I feel really comfortable being able to manage the pre-press layout myself.
Set up Amazon account and bunch of other pretty boring sounding back end work as well as put all the pieces together.
Anyway, still lots to do! I don’t think I’ll quite make my Dec 2022 publication date, but I feel like I’m definitely on track for a first quarter of 2023 publication date and I’m really excited about it!
