Maps

Over the years dozens of maps of Galhadria have been drawn by hand. While drawing maps is very enjoyable, there came a time when the true scope of maps required for the project became apparent, and drawing them all by hand became too daunting of a task.

Enter Wonderdraft. Experiments with a number of mapping tools found that some were amazing but had too steep of a learning curve, others too limited. Wonderdraft hit the personal sweet spot for easy enough to learn but not too limited. It can be expanded to quite an amazing level for those with the knack, but for Galhadria things were kept pretty standard in order to ensure consistency across time.

The ease of making rivers, roads, and borders hooked me, but what really sold me on Wonderdraft was the ability to take an existing map and zoom in - thus adding finer detail to a finite area. No more trying to recreate that geography from scratch so the small towns can be shown. Just zoom in and start mapping.
