League of the Lexicon

Hello dear readers!

It has recently occurred to me that if you’re reading this blog, we probably have similar interests! To that end, I would like to start sharing some of my favorite table top games with you. (Outside of TTRPGs of course)

Confession time: I’m kind of a Kickstarter Junkie. Since 2011 I have backed over 200 projects on Kickstarter. I genuinely love getting to help someone achieve their dream watching projects succeed. It’s so fun to see other people succeed in their hard work and also the power of the internet. Dozens, sometimes hundreds, sometimes thousands of people rally together to help someone’s creative vision come alive! Even well known and successful individuals and teams have great luck by turning to crowd funding to help make their dreams a reality. Just look at what Critical Role achieved with Vox Machina, or Brandon Sanderson with his secret novels project. But I digress.

Last year I backed a project called Leage of the Lexicon.

Behold, League of the Lexicon! 1st Edition.

Normally, I hate trivia games because the topics are always things like sports or pop culture, which I have no interest in. However, this sounded like a trivia game I could get behind. It’s a nerdy word game all about language and obscure facts and knowledge. It arrived in the mail just in time for Christmas and I’ve had a chance to play it a few times since then.

You pick a character at the start of the game. You also choose which difficulty level you want to play at: Ticklish (easy) or Tricksy (hard). During play, you roll the dice the see what category you have to answer a question in.

You then must do your best to answer your question. Here are some samples from the Ticklish questions. I will say even if you play on easy, we still found some of those questions quiet difficult.

If you get it right, you get an artefact card. If you get it wrong, you get nothing. You play until you have enough artefacts to match all the symbols on your character card. Here is a sampling of the artefact cards.

First person to match all their symbols wins. There is a little more to it than that, but you get the jist. Anyway, we’ve had a lot of fun playing and I, personally, learn something new every time I play. Be warned, this game is tough. But still highly enjoyable.

If you’re looking for a new trivia game, and you really enjoy words and language, I highly recommend this game. Check it out here. Feel free to share your most interesting word knowledge with me in the comments below.

Till next time dear reader, go enjoy some trivia and learn a new random factoid. <3 Tiff
